Haskap Scones

A rustic and delicious breakfast accompaniment.

There's nothing quite like something sweet emerging from the oven on a cool fall morning. With the power of inclusions (hello haskaps & white chocolate) simple scones transform into sweet morning treat.

Breakfast is so often a rushed meal, falling victim of a full morning schedule. But when you have a couple minutes to spare, there's nothing like warm pastry. We've filled this one with tart haskaps and creamy white chocolate, for a sweet take on a classic.

Estimated Time

Prep Time: 15 min Make time: 20-30 min

Makes: 6-8 scones

Ingredients

2 1/2 cups all purpose flour

1 cup sugar

1 tbsp baking soda

1 cup salted butter, melted

1 egg

1/2 cup milk

1 cup of fresh or frozen haskaps

1/2 cup white chocolate chips

Directions

  1. Preheat oven to 450ºF.

  2. Mix all dry ingredients together in a large bowl.

  3. Mix in your melted butter.

  4. Add the egg, haskaps and white chocolate into the mixture.

  5. Add milk so that the dough is sticky and soft but not runny. If you are using frozen haskaps you might have to use less milk since the haskaps will bring liquid into the dough once heated up.

  6. Line a large baking sheet with parchment paper. Place a scoop of dough at least 3 inches apart onto the baking sheet.

  7. Bake for 20-30min or until golden brown around the edges. Take out of the oven and enjoy! Best served when still a little bit warm.
